About Dr. Semanie

My approach to medicine has been shaped by almost three decades working with people in complex, high-stakes situations.

Before becoming a physician, I spent over ten years in healthcare in roles that ranged from medical assistant and lifeguard to paramedic. For the past decade I have practiced integrative and functional medicine, helping patients understand complex health concerns and identify the underlying factors that may be affecting their health.

Outside of medicine, my life and work have taken many forms — from construction and athletics to running businesses and managing teams. Those experiences, combined with caring for my own family through significant medical and developmental challenges, have given me a deep appreciation for how health, stress, environment, and life experience intersect.

Patients often come to me after years of symptoms, extensive testing, or multiple opinions without clear answers. My role is to step back, listen carefully, ask better questions, and help connect patterns in symptoms, history, and laboratory data so that the situation finally begins to make sense.

Good medicine, in my view, begins with thoughtful analysis, honest conversation, and genuine respect for the person sitting across the table.
